Mobile App Privacy Policy
What the Tech Peace app on your Android phone can access, what a technician can see, and how it's protected. Last updated October 31, 2026.
The Tech Peace mobile app ("the app") is published by Tech Peace LLC ("Tech Peace," "we," "us"), operator of https://www.mytechpeace.com. This policy covers the app only. Your membership and the website are covered by our Privacy Policy, and the browser extension by the Online Companion Privacy Policy.
The short version
- The app does one thing: it lets you show your phone screen to a Tech Peace technician so they can walk you through a fix.
- Nothing is shared until you say yes, and you can stop at any moment.
- The technician can only look. They cannot touch, control, or take over your phone.
- The app never asks for your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files, location, or text messages.
- No ads, no advertising or analytics tools, and we never sell your information.
- We will never ask for your password, a code, or a payment during a screen share.
What the app does
You sign in with the same email and password as your Tech Peace membership. From the home screen you can tap Share my screen to ask a technician to join, or accept a technician's request to view your screen. The app has no account sign-up, no payments, no chat, and no advertising. Memberships are created and paid for on our website.
Information the app collects
Sign-in and account information
When you sign in, your email and password are sent over an encrypted connection to our account provider (Supabase) to confirm you are a member. The app does not keep your password. It keeps only the sign-in session that comes back — an access token, a refresh token, and your email address and account ID — so you stay signed in. Your email is shown at the bottom of the home screen.
Screen-share session records
Each time you request, accept, decline, or end a screen share, we store a small record: your account ID, who started it (you or a technician), which technician joined, its status (waiting, active, declined, or ended), and the times it was created, started, and ended. These records show what happened and when. They do not contain any of what was on your screen.
Your screen, only while you are sharing
While a session is active, a live picture of your screen is sent to the technician. This is the most sensitive thing the app can do, so plainly:
- Android asks you first. Sharing cannot begin until you approve Android's own "Start recording or casting?" prompt. If you decline, nothing is captured.
- The technician sees everything on your screen while you share — including messages, photos, notifications, and anything you type. Close anything private before you start. The app says this before you begin.
- View only. The technician cannot tap, type, or control your phone.
- No audio, no camera. Only the picture of your screen is shared — not sound, and not your camera or microphone.
- Not stored by the app or our servers. The picture goes straight from your phone to the technician's browser. It does not pass through, and is not saved in, our database. We do not record or take screenshots of screen-share sessions.
- You stay in control. You can tap Stop sharing in the app, or use Android's own stop control. Either one ends the capture immediately. While sharing, Android shows an ongoing notification so it is always clear your screen is being shared.
Technical connection data
To connect your phone to the technician's browser, the app exchanges short technical messages (connection offers and network addresses, including your device's IP address) through our real-time messaging service and through relay ("STUN" and "TURN") servers that help two devices reach each other across mobile networks. If a direct connection is not possible, the video is relayed through a TURN server, encrypted end to end between your phone and the technician's browser. We do not keep these messages once the call ends.
What the app does not collect
No contacts, photos, files, text messages, call logs, location, camera or microphone data, advertising ID, or other apps on your phone. The app contains no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting tools.
Permissions the app asks for
We keep this list deliberately short, so there is less for you to worry about and less for anyone to misuse. This is everything the app requests:
- Internet — to sign in and connect to the technician.
- View network status — to tell whether you are online.
- Run a foreground service (screen sharing type) — required by Android to keep screen sharing running, and only while you are sharing. It is what puts the visible notification on your screen.
- Screen capture — not a permission you grant once and forget. Android asks you every single time a session starts, and you can say no.
The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, storage, location, phone, SMS, or "display over other apps" access, and the last of those is explicitly blocked.
How information is used
- To confirm you are a Tech Peace member and keep you signed in.
- To connect you with a technician for the screen share you asked for or accepted.
- To keep a record that each session happened, and to keep the service secure.
We do not use information from the app for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than running the screen-share service, and we do not sell it.
Who can see your information
Tech Peace technicians
Only signed-in Tech Peace technicians can view a screen share, and only for a session you requested or accepted. A technician cannot start viewing your screen on their own: when they ask, you see the request and choose Accept or Not now. Technicians never ask for your password, a verification code, gift cards, or money. If anyone does, on a call or during a screen share, stop sharing and call us on 972-885-8579.
Service providers
The app depends on a small number of outside services, each handling data only to run the app:
- Supabase — sign-in, the member database, session records, and the real-time messages used to start a call.
- Cloudflare — relay (TURN) servers that carry the encrypted connection when a direct one is not possible. Our server requests short-lived credentials from Cloudflare for you; they expire after one hour.
- Google — a public connection-discovery (STUN) server. It sees your device's IP address when the app sets up a call, and nothing else.
- Vercel — hosts the Tech Peace server that issues those relay credentials.
We do not sell information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone from fraud or harm.
How the app and your data are protected
- Encryption in transit. Everything between the app and our services travels over encrypted connections, and the screen video is end-to-end encrypted between your phone and the technician's browser.
- You can only reach your own data. Database rules ("row level security") mean a member's account can only read and change its own screen-share records, never anyone else's. Our server checks your sign-in token again every time you ask it for relay credentials, and refuses requests without a valid one.
- No secrets inside the app. The app contains only a public identifier for our database. No private keys, passwords, or relay credentials are built into it, so nothing sensitive can be pulled out of the app file.
- Sign-in storage on your phone. Your sign-in session is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read on an unmodified Android phone. It is not additionally encrypted by the app, so Android's own protections matter here: keep a screen lock on your phone and keep Android updated. Signing out removes the session from the app.
- Sessions don't overstay. Waiting requests that go unanswered are closed automatically, and the app will not let you sign out in the middle of a share.
- Technicians are accountable. Technician access is limited to our team, and privileged actions on member accounts are recorded in an audit log.
- Safer sign-in messages. If sign-in fails, the app gives the same message whether the email or the password was wrong, so it cannot be used to find out who is a member.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
How long we keep information
- Your sign-in session stays on your phone until you sign out, it expires, or you uninstall the app.
- Screen-share session records are kept with your account for as long as it is open, and as long afterwards as needed for support history, legal obligations, and resolving disputes.
- Your screen picture and connection messages are not stored. They exist only while the call is live.
- Relay credentials expire after one hour.
Your choices and rights
- Decline or stop at any time. Tap Not now, Cancel, or Stop sharing in the app, or use Android's stop control.
- Sign out from the home screen to remove your session from the phone.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it stored on your phone.
- Revoke what Android allows. In Android Settings you can review the app's permissions and notifications whenever you like.
- See, correct, or delete your information. You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account and its screen-share records, by emailing support@mytechpeace.com from the email address on your account or by calling 972-885-8579. We may need to confirm it is really you first, and we will respond within a reasonable time. Some records, such as billing records, may need to be kept longer by law.
Residents of some states and countries have additional rights, such as to know, correct, delete, or receive a copy of their data and not to be discriminated against for asking. Contact us and we will honor those rights as the law requires.
Children
Tech Peace and this app are for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the information.
Helping someone else
If a family member sets up the app for a parent or loved one, the person whose phone it is should be the one to say yes to each screen share. The app is designed so that nothing is shared without the phone's owner approving it on that phone.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting something new, or changes how it uses information, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect, and will tell you in the app or by email if the change is significant. Past versions are available on request.
